Rod: Leptotyphlops
Výskyt:
Tropické a subtropické oblasti Ameriky (od Kalifornie po Mexiko, tropy
Latinské Ameriky včetně Antilských ostrovů), Afrika a jehozápad Asie.
Fyziologie:
Jsou malí a štíhlí, málokdy přesahují délku 40 cm, většinou dorůstají
30 cm. Některé druhy jsou jen 3 mm tlusté. Kladou vajíčka (jsou
oviparní).
Obecně:
Žijí pod zemí a na povrchu se objevují pouze výjimečně a to jen v noci.
Živí se larvami hmyzu, ale především termity a mravenci.
